Thermowhey demonstration event
A last demonstration event was held In MLANG facilities o 26th November 2016. The demonstration consisted in the presentation of the results of the project. 26 participants attended the event from companies involved in the milk and cheese chain, mainly members of the MLANG cooperative, who reported a keen interest in being involved in the supply of whey for the novel packaging materials.

[:en]Lecture at UPC on biopolymers from waste valorization[:]
[:en]Thermowhey was included as an example of applications of waste valorisation in high performance bio-packaging in a lecture given by Dr. Elodie Bugnicourt on biopolymers from waste valorization at the master in biological systems of the ESAB, UPC (http://www.esab.upc.edu/ca). She reviewed the current biopolymer industry landscape and trends and the reasons why we have been focusing on using waste as more sustainable and ethical resource for biopolymers than using food-competing crops.[:]

MLANG’s pilot plant visit
During the meeting held on September 30, the Thermowhey participants visited MLANG’s pilot plant for the production of agglomerated whey protein formulations. The patenting of this novel thermoformable formulation is being checked at FRAUNHOFER. In the future, it could also be produced in the large scale spray drying plant which partner also saw.
Thermowhey in the media
During the last months several media published articles about Thermowhey project.
Thermowhey mentioned in the workshop on bioplastics from waste valorization held by OliPHA project
Thermowhey in BTA and Hispack, April 2015
During the largest Spanish packaging tradefair held every 3 years in Barcelona, IRIS displayed the Thermowhey project on their stand.
